Crystal Lyn is an emerging, self-taught artist, born and raised in Wichita, KS and is now calling Los Angeles her home.

Her greatest artistic inspirations are Matisse, Van Gogh, Kandinsky and László Moholy-Nagy. Her art transcends abstract modernism, though, to incorporate ideas of expressionism and social-philosophy.

"Art for me is a room without walls, only infinite possibility. A place where pain can easily be relieved”

She has said, referring to her PTSD from overcoming her traumatic childhood of sexual abuse and homelessness.

Crystal Lyn's art is inspired by the ups and downs of day-to-day life, growing and evolving with each and every experience. Her artwork primarily focuses on black and white as a representation of thoughts unwinding in an uncontrollable, nonstop flow and allows space for her audience to feel emotions that are not influenced by color. When using color, however, she works boldly in solid hues, using the color to capture and invoke a specific feeling in the viewer, as in her latest collection Emoceans, which deals

with existential thoughts and out-of-body experiences.

"I place the paintbrush in my hand and let it lead the way until I come to a release of emotions”
